Fred LeBaron

A Songwriter's Journey

Fred LeBaron is a songwriter-singer with a passion for lyrics-driven solo acoustic music. A decades long desultory strummer, he kicked things up and began writing his own songs in 2014. He has since released two EPs, Ad Este, in 2014; and After All, in 2017. His 2023 CD, Last Year’s Leaves, included the song “He’s an Old Dog,” which won the Nashville Songwriters Association Int’l Song of the Year for 2023. Fred has also received Honorable Mention in the American Songwriter Song Contest, as well as Hopwood and Dyer-Ives Foundation Awards for poetry. Fred has studied songwriting under Nashville songsmith Steve Seskin, at his renowned Bluebird Café seminars, and with award-winning Nashville guitar teacher Ellen Britton. Fred’s warm and engaging stage presence, combined with his emotionally resonant and lyrically insightful songs, make for an enjoyable and memorable musical evening.  Fred recently celebrated his 50th anniversary as a professional librarian, and the birth of his 10th grandchild. He’s a member of the Nashville Songwriters Ass’n Int’l, where he serves as a Coordinator of the Chicago Chapter, and Folk Alliance International.
